The Training Component

Our blended learning program features a combination of video, e-learning, online instruction, simulations, texts, mentor/instructor support and live training.

Training activities are structured in sequence, intensity, duration and frequency, as well as planned and programmed in the training activities and their content.

Primary training is experiential – that means that interns are directly exposed and interact with the recipients of their work (i.e., delivery of service in direct contact with service recipients), helping them understand their role as they transition from students to professionals. Delivery of service tasks and performance of duties while in our office are primarily learning-oriented. We believe interns’ training takes precedence over service delivery and revenue generation.

Interns are involved in a wide range of experiences to help them develop, such as mentoring, instruction, professional role-modeling and enactment, observational/vicarious learning, supervisory or consultative guidance. The experience is enhanced by consistent supervision, varied responsibilities, in-house and client interaction, and continued training. Through mentoring relationships, we aim to cultivate the person of the intern as well as to educate in conceptual and methodological skills needed to be effective in their chosen career.
